QuoteLoupe publishes guides, glossary terms and other pages to help homeowners read HVAC quotes. This policy explains how those pages are researched, written, reviewed and corrected.
Our standard
Every page should help a homeowner make a better decision about a real quote. A page earns its place only if it answers its question clearly on the first screen and adds at least one fact or step not found elsewhere on this site.
Sources
- Every factual claim links to its source and shows the date it was verified.
- We prefer primary sources: government agencies, state licensing boards and statutes, building codes, standards bodies, and manufacturer documentation.
- We do not cite other sites’ summaries when the original is available.
- Where a rule varies by state or city, we say so and point you to the authority that decides it.
Review
A named person reviews and approves every page before it is published, and the page shows who reviewed it and when. Tax, permit and deposit rules are re-checked at least every six months, and sooner when the law changes.
Use of AI tools
We may use AI tools to help with research notes and first drafts. They never have the final word: a person checks every fact against its source before a page is published, and nothing is published automatically.
Independence
- We do not name, rate, rank or recommend contractors.
- We do not accept payment to include, change or remove content.
- We do not show price estimates or “fair price” verdicts, because we do not have verified price data.
- If the site carries advertising, advertisers have no influence on the checker, its weights or any page.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. To report an error, contact us with the page and, if you can, a source.
- We review every report.
- Factual corrections are made on the page, and the review date is updated.
- Significant corrections, such as a wrong rule, figure or deadline, get a short note on the page saying what changed and when.
- Changes to the checker’s scoring weights are recorded on the methodology page.
Updates and removals
We regularly improve, merge or retire pages that are out of date or that overlap with others. When a page is merged or retired, its address redirects to the page that now covers the topic.
