Replacing an AC, furnace or heat pump is one of the biggest checks most homeowners ever write for their house. The quotes that arrive rarely look alike. One is a single line and a total. Another runs three pages. A third quotes a different size of system altogether. Most people end up comparing the only number they understand, the price, and hoping the rest is similar.
It usually is not. Two quotes can differ by thousands of dollars simply because one leaves out work the other includes: the permit, the load calculation, the duct sealing, the line set, the start-up checks. QuoteLoupe exists to make that difference visible before you sign.
What QuoteLoupe does
The checker reads the details of your quote, scores it against the 14 items a complete replacement quote should cover, flags the gaps and sales behaviour worth a second look, and turns every missing item into a plain question to ask your contractor. With two or three quotes, it lines them up side by side so you compare the same job, not three different ones.

What we believe
- Scope before price. A cheaper quote that skips the permit is not cheaper. We help you compare what is included first.
- No guessed prices. We do not have verified local price data, so we show none. A made-up number presented as fact would do more harm than good.
- Private by design. Quote details are processed on your device. We built it this way so there is nothing to leak, sell or lose.
- Questions, not accusations. A flag is a prompt to ask, not a verdict on your contractor. Most gaps have a simple answer once you ask.
- Sources and corrections. Every fact on this site carries a source and a date, and when we get something wrong we fix it in the open.
What we do not do
We do not rate, rank or recommend contractors. We do not sell leads or pass your details to installers. We do not say whether a price is fair. And we do not give legal, tax or professional advice: for permits, licences and incentives, your local building department, state licensing board and a tax professional have the final word.
Who is behind QuoteLoupe
QuoteLoupe is an independent company. We built the checker because comparing HVAC quotes is harder than it should be, and the people doing it are usually deciding quickly, with a lot of money at stake.
We are not a contractor, we do not sell HVAC equipment, and we do not sell leads. Nobody pays us to appear on this site or to change what it says. Our guides are researched from primary sources, reviewed before they are published, and corrected openly under our editorial policy.
