The score is about completeness, not quality or price
The completeness score reflects which of 14 scope items a quote clearly includes. It does not measure the quality of a contractor, the suitability of the equipment for your home, or whether the price is fair. A quote can score highly and still be wrong for you; a quote can score low because it is short, not because the work is poor.
Flags are questions, not accusations
Flags are produced by simple, published rules. They point to things worth asking about. They are not findings of wrongdoing by any contractor, and most have an ordinary explanation once you ask.
Rules vary and change
Permit requirements, licensing rules, limits on deposits, and tax credits and rebates differ by state, county and city, and they change. We cite our sources and show when each fact was last verified, but you should always confirm with the authority that decides: your local building department, your state contractor licensing board, your utility or a tax professional.
Reading uploads
When you paste text or upload a PDF or photo, automated software reads it on your device. It can miss or misread text. You are asked to confirm amounts, model numbers and unclear items before a score appears, and you are responsible for checking them.
