QuoteLoupe is live. Before you use it on a quote that matters, here is a plain account of what it does well, where its limits are, and what we are working on. We will keep this post updated as things change.

What it can do today

  • Score a quote for completeness. 14 scope items, weighted to add up to 100, with the weights published on the methodology page.
  • Flag the things worth asking about. Missing sizing method or permit, no home visit, pressure to sign, large deposits, verbal rebates, cash discounts, short labor warranties and tax-credit promises.
  • Write your questions for you. Every missing item becomes a question for your contractor, heaviest first.
  • Compare up to three quotes. Side by side, with price per ton and a note when totals differ by 15% or more.
  • Read your quote for you. Paste the text, drop in a PDF, or upload a photo or screenshot. The text is read on your device, and you confirm what was found before anything is scored.
  • Copy or print the results. A plain-text summary you can paste into an email, or a print-friendly page you can save as PDF.

What it deliberately does not do

  • Tell you if a price is fair. We have no verified local price data, so we show none.
  • Rate contractors. We never name, rank or recommend a business.
  • Keep your quote. Nothing you enter is sent to us or saved anywhere.
  • Give legal or tax advice. For permits, licences and incentives, the local authority has the final word.

Known limits

  • Photo reading is not perfect. Blurry, angled or glossy photos can be misread. That is why amounts and model numbers always need your confirmation. The photo tips on the checker page help.
  • One checklist for every system. Today the same 14 items apply to AC, furnace and heat pump quotes. Heat pumps and ductless systems have extra items worth checking, and those are on the list below.
  • US replacement quotes only. Repairs, new construction and commercial jobs are not covered yet.

What is coming next

  • More guides, glossary terms and state pages, each with sources and a review date.
  • A copy-and-paste request you can send every contractor, so all your quotes cover the same scope.
  • Checklists that change by system type, including heat pump checks such as cold-climate rating and backup heat.
  • Saved checks and shareable links, both kept on your device.
